USA Trip.....The details

Six States, four National Parks, over five thousand miles driven, over one hundred miles hiked and one beautiful wedding.....all in sixteen days!

It's hard to know where to start.....the beginning would be a good place.

When our nephew announced he was getting married, we were thrilled and extremely excited to be able to travel to Minnesota to celebrate the impending marriage. We both agreed to make the most of the travel opportunity and spend 16 days state side. Within a few weeks, we began to plan our first adventure of a lifetime.

We knew straight away we did not want hotels, B&Bs, fancy restaurants or cities. We quickly decided on an RV, something big enough for two weeks but small enough for us to be able to access the National Parks.

The RV was rented from CU Camper, we opted for the C21 model. It wasn't the smallest on offer and by no means the largest. We collected the RV from Hastings, Minnesota and headed to Mayer to visit family before starting the first week of our adventure. We said our goodbyes and hit the road, we didn't get very far before having to turn back, but that little detail will be saved for another blog.

Badlands National Park was always going to be our first stop, we very quickly realised this would be a regular park up for us while travelling between the states. It wasn't necessarily central to our travel plans but it was midway timewise to everywhere we were hoping to visit.

From Badlands, we'd planned to travel to Wyoming and Grand Teton National Park but as they say 'things don't always go according to plan'. Teton Park Road, the main road into the national park was still closed for the winter. So, we headed to Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado.

From here, we headed back to Minnesota via Nebraska for our nephew's wedding. By this point we were both ready for a day off, more about that in a later blog!

After spending the day with family celebrating, we left Minnesota for Badlands National Park. This was only a short visit. Parked up, slept, made coffee and breakfast and hit the road again. This time, Teton Park Road was open so we finally made our way to Grand Teton National Park.

Grand Teton National Park was amazing! We both could have stayed there forever - we very nearly did - but we decided to spend the final few days of our adventure in Yellowstone National Park. After all, we were only 30 minutes away.

This may only be a brief introduction to our US adventure but one blog would never be enough to cover our entire adventure.

Make sure you subscribe to our blog - if you haven't already - for more of our adventures in the USA.
